When is Starcraft 2 Coming Out?
Why the long wait?
Are you reading this Blizzard? Please Blizz, help us out. We’re not asking for much. We’re not asking for an exact hour or day. We’re not even asking for the month you’re planning to release Starcraft 2. But can you please give us an approximate range? Something like “around December” works a lot better for fans than “we’ll let you know when it’s ready”.

Ok message sent, now let me get back to you guys. If you took the time to read the Frequently Asked Questions on the Starcraft 2 official website, you probably noticed that most of the questions end in “we cannot give you any details on this, since the stuff you’re asking about can only be answered closer to the game’s release date”. My question for them is…why add those questions and answer pairs in the FAQ if all you’re telling us is that you can’t tell us squat?
What history has shown us
All we’re left to do is estimate. There have been a lot of rumors about the actual date when Starcraft 2 is coming out but knowing Blizzard, they probably don’t even have a fixed date planned. If you recall, in 96 or so, Blizzard started work on a small project called World of Warcraft. It was going to be an adventure game that placed you more personally inside the world of one of the company’s other huge successes, the Warcraft universe. They spent around 4 years developing the game, after which they simply cut off the project because they thought it couldn’t be brought to the same quality level as the main games from their three quality franchises: Starcraft, Warcraft and Diablo. The same thing happened with Starcraft Ghost which was deep in the development process, but still got cut off because it didn’t meet the quality benchmarks that Blizzard imposes on their games.
The point is...
My point is, when Blizzard wants something done, they’ll do it right. And if they want to do it right, they’ll take all the time they need to do it. They’ll also cut off a project at the blink of an eye if it doesn’t have as bright a future as their past games. However, Starcraft 2 looks almost playable already, judging by the screenshots and videos you can see on the game’s website and throughout the Internet. The engine seems to be all set, so that means that the only thing that they still need to focus on is content and gameplay. As we speak, there’s probably some guy out there in the Blizzard offices that’s manually placing textures on the character models, polishing down small details, adding new content and creating new maps for the game.
Final Words
So when is Starcraft 2 coming out? Well no one can say with any certainty, but seeing how advanced the game is at this point in the development process, we may as well hope that it will be done before the summer.

Good grief, it's about time. I understand the need to perfect it but did they really have to start advertising it so soon? Seriously, I remember reading an article about SC2 development like 10 years ago... 10 YEARS! They even had a screen shot... though that screen shot looks nothing like the ones they provide now.
Anyway, I hope they don't expect to charge much for it because I've gotten kind of burned out on the idea of it. I was real excited when I first heard about it and probably would have paid a lot for it. But after all this time of waiting month after month and year after year... I'm not so excited now. I waited this long, I might as well wait another year and get it in the $10 bin.

"hell, it's about time." *switches cigar to other side of mouth* sc2 will come out august 2 for sure, and all you pre ordering people like me, trust me. it is worth a nerdgasm. i had a few just downloading the beta. the gameplay kicks ass, and the unit models run terrific. can't wait to see the campaign!

I myself am a StarCraft fan I can wait but I will not tolerate any deleting of StarCraftII Wings of Liberty but by what game makers best chances are to publish the game at the last moment and by the data I've collected the avarage time they have left until Fans give up is at somewhere close to this date: DECEMBER 16, 2010. So they have until that time to publish the game or they will face a 50 thru 75 percent of popularity loss. And by the status of todays economy that is basicaly a company throwing away all they got. If any of you Blizzard Ent. operators are reading this... Take this into consideration.

well, if they did that, we'd be buying a lot of expansion packs. see, blizzard already has plans to make 2 more expansion packs, because just buying a 60 dollar package is too cheap. starcraft 2 wings of liberty will only focues on the human campaign. then the other 2 expansion packs which i found out on the official website come out, one will be focused on the protoss and the other on the zerg. i dont know how much each will cost, but seeing as they will each add as much to the game as brood wars did, i dont see them being below 30 bucks. so guys, when sc2 comes out, peel ur faces off the screen for a few days and get a summer job so u can buy the expansions and glue back even longer XD cant wait till it comes out, hope to see you guys in-game.
