Several online stores have set the release date to 12/3/2008.
Could this be a hint from Blizzard?

The VP of game design at Blizzard said that they're going to divulge more information about the campaigns around New Years. Would be funny if the game came out and then they start talking about the campaign.

To be honest it looks a lot like Warcraft 3. Doesn't really look like anything new. I think that it needs to be released before Christmas if they are going to try to win over people who haven't been that into Starcraft or the younger gamers who weren't old enough for Starcraft.

Most definitely, the first test run will be sold out in no time, but they will soon release the second quantity. After all there is plenty where that come from.

A Spokesman from Blizzard said they are only done with a third of the characters or SC2. That mean we will possible only see SC2 late 2009.
I'm sorry but stores dont
I'm sorry but stores dont just set a random release date on games. How could that possibly make "noobs" more likely to buy a game? If someone is going to preorder starcraft 2, they're going to preorder starcraft 2, it doesnt matter if theres a release date or not. And in fact, it would be more beneficial for blizzard to come up with a random release date and tell stores like these so they would get some early, guaranteed sales to those chains... However, if this is the release date listed on those sites, i'm sure blizzard is hoping to release the game around that time. Whether or not they are actually able to is an entirely different question.

All the stores that I ask when StarCraft 2 will be out, they refer me to the Internet. It is easier, because then they can go on with their lives and you can do it yourself.

It’s true that the game is going to be stunning. People have burst into tears when they saw SC2 on the Blizzcom exhibitions, but will all the things that we love be in the game. I talk about little things such as the parasite that the queen used to spit, or the mind control of the Protos. These things sometimes are what make the game enjoyable or not.

rumors are that there is a "new race" but it is not a playable race. you only face it in the story. I have a few friends who work for blizzard so I'm able to get some inside info... they've told me that they don't even have a set release date yet. it is all depending on how fast they can finish the game and finish the testing. they're hoping to have it done a few weeks before christmas but they aren't promising that it will be out before then. so you might be looking at a spring release. but you never know
